The Organ Grinder is Blue Monkey's pub in Canning Circus, Nottingham.

Opening hours: From Midday every day.

Cask Ales: We have up to nine cask ales on the bar.  Half are from the Blue Monkey stable, with BG Sips and Guerilla as permanent fixtures.  The remaining hand-pulls feature a constantly rotating selection of ales from near and far.  We have Bateman's XB as our permanent guest beer, priced at a bargain £2.20 per pint for the budget concious.  All other cask ales on the bar are priced between £2.60 and £3.20 depending on ABV.

Real Ciders: We have a rotating selection of two real ciders and one perry at all times.

Keg Beers: We are absolutely committed to cask ale, but we also have an interesting selection of keg beers for those that want something a little bit different:

  • UK Craft Brewed Lager: Freedom Brewery - Freedom 4
  • Wheat Beer: Erdinger - Weissbrau
  • USA Craft Brewery Keg: Brooklyn Brewery - Brooklyn Lager
  • Strong Belgian beer: Duvel Moortgat - Duvel
  • Lambic/Fruit Beer: Belle Vue - Kriek
  • German Pilsner: Schwaben BrauMeister Pils

Other reasons to visit:

  • In the winter we have a real fire roaring every day - one of the few in the city.
  • Love wine?  We do too, so we've found some that are much better than in most pubs.
  • Delicious pork pies from a local butcher. The Stilton-topped ones are particularly awesome!
  • We provide a selection of the day's newspapers, and some interesting books to read.
  • Freshly brewed filter coffee - no instant coffee in sight.
  • Well behaved dogs are welcome - they are particularly fond of the fire!
  • We have a great beer garden and a separate heated smoking shelter.
  • And finally...   pickled eggs!

The Canning Circuit

The Organ Grinder forms part of the Canning Circuit – a cluster of great pubs in the area of the city known as ‘Canning Circus’.  Each pub offers something a little different, but all have one thing in common: Real Ale!

1: The Organ Grinder.  Blue Monkey Brewery’s first pub, offering 8 real ales, a real fire, a great selection of international beers and quality wines.

2: The Running Horse.  Known for live music and open mic nights.  2-3 real ales.

3: The Falcon.  A tiny pub, full of character.  3-4 real ales.

4: The John Borlase Warren.  A traditional pub interior with a modern twist.  Serves food and has a great roof terrace.  3-4 real ales.

5: The Ropewalk.  A modern and stylish venue which traditionally attracted students, but is getting increasingly popular with a more mature crowd – helped by 4-5 real ales and very generous CAMRA discounts!

6: The Hawksley.  A modern sports bar, shows most sports in a classy environment.  4 real ales, two of them local.

7: The Hand and Heart.  A beautiful pub, with rear rooms built into sandstone caves. A great selection of local ales and excellent food.

If you are still standing after that, then head down Derby Road into to the centre of town, which is only five minutes' walk.
